What is the reason for the notice?
In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation ("Milwaukee") is voluntarily recalling certain 14.4 V 2.4 Ah NiCd battery packs manufactured between September 1999 and February 2004 and certain 18 V 2.4 Ah NiCd battery packs manufactured between July 1999 and February 2004. Milwaukee is taking this action because there is a risk that if an over-pressure vent on a battery cell inside the battery packs becomes damaged or compromised during use the pack could explode. If an explosion occurs, serious injury can result.

What is affected by this recall?

• 14.4 V 2.4 Ah NiCd Battery packs (Catalog Number 48-11-1024) that were manufactured between September 1999 and February 2004 by Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, then a subsidiary of Atlas-Copco North America.
  
• 18 V 2.4 Ah NiCd Battery packs (Catalog Number 48-11-2230) that were manufactured between July 1999 and February 2004 by Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, then a subsidiary of Atlas-Copco North America.
  
• If you purchased reconditioned 14.4 V or 18 V 2.4 Ah NiCd battery cordless tool kits, call 1-800-729-3878 and a representative will help you determine whether your packs are
  affected.
  
• This recall does not affect battery packs manufactured after February 2004. All battery packs manufactured after February 2004 have a different design.

What to do?

STOP USING AFFECTED BATTERY PACKS IMMEDIATELY.

If your 14.4 V and 18 V 2.4 Ah NiCd battery packs are within the date code range shown on the attached Safety Recall Poster, please return them to Milwaukee and Milwaukee will provide you with replacement batteries at no charge (Call toll free 1-800-729-3878 for a /postage-paid shipping label and shipping instructions).
